1. Eat breakfast daily! Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. By eating a well balanced meal at breakfast you will keep your energy levels steady throughout the morning.

2. Add a small handful of almonds, walnuts or other nuts to your diet, by sprinkling them into salads, adding them to yogurt, or mixing them with dried fruits. Nuts are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, fiber, and have been known to reduce cholesterol.

3. Eat small meals throughout the day, instead of eating two or three large meals. By adopting this principle, your body burns calories more efficiently, and prevents your energy levels from dropping too low.

4. Incorporate resistance training into your workouts. It can increase your metabolism, bone density and strength, and reduce body fat.

5. Be good to yourself. Negative self talk and stress are unhealthy for the mind and body. Find ways to de-stress. Read a good book, practice yoga, do deep breathing exercises, or chat with a professional counselor.

6. Stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water a day. Increase your water intake if you are exercising or outside in hot or humid weather. Remember if you are thirsty you are already hydrated. Add lemon slices to your water if you find the taste of water too bland. I usually keep a water bottle handy and drink a few of these a day.

Contrary to what you may think, eating fat doesn’t make you fat! Fat is needed in the body, it provides energy, slows down carbohydrate absorption, and is important for hormone production. The good fats, (Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s) are known as essential fatty acids because the body cannot make them and they can only be obtained from food sources.

Sources of good fats to include in your diet are nuts: almonds, walnuts, and pecans. Other good sources of fat are peanut butter, almond butter, avocado, flax seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. Virgin olive oil and canola oil are ideal for cooking. Salmon is also rich in Omega 3’s. Omega 3’s have a whole host of benefits, including reducing inflammation in the body, and promoting good heart health, so incorporate this into your weekly menu 2 times per week.

Limit the bad fats such as palm and fatty animal products like butter. These are mostly saturated and should comprise less than 10% of your diet. And finally, avoid as much as possible, the ugly fats -those made with hydrogenated oils or vegetable oil shortening. Manufacturers use hydrogenation to preserve the shelf life of a product. Hydrogenation, otherwise known as trans fats, have been linked to degenerative diseases and cancer. Often you will find them in potato chips, cookies, margarine, and other packaged foods. Start reading labels and learn to make smarter choices.

Remember, fat is good for you, just choose the right ones to include in your diet.

One day I was introduced to a product I’d never heard of before, and I was amazed at how it great it tasted! Being a Nutritionist, I like to research new health products, and when it comes to juice products I’ve tried a few, but there haven’t been any that I could recommend to others. But Youth Juice, or YJ is one I highly recommend. It’s one of the most popular juices on the market, but it’s not just a juice, it’s a food supplement that has 7 berries and 3 sea vegetables that have a vitamin and nutrient profile that meets 100% of the Recommended Dietary Allowance.

Plus, the first ingredients listed in Youth Juice are raspberries, not filtered water. When you read the testimonials on the Youth Juice website, there are some stories that it has helped with improved energy levels, a decrease in allergies and colds, and other noticeable health benefits.

So, you might be asking, why would I want to supplement with YJ if I’m already eating a well balanced diet? I always educate people that most of your vitamins and nutrients should come from your food supply. But even if you are on a proper nutrition plan, you still may not be getting everything you need. This could be due to the quality of the food source, as well as the lack of nutrients in the soil. Take Youth Juice as a supplement to get additional nutrients you may be missing.

Here are some other KEY POINTS about Youth Juice:

* It has an ingredient called Fucoidans. Fucoidans are sea vegetables, and known for their immune boosting agents.
* Youth Juice has the highest levels of antioxidants of any drink on the market.
* It was developed with government research. Go to www.checkthescience.com to read about the findings.
* Youth Juice has a low glycemic index of 15, which is much lower than other beverage products that are on the market today.
* It is a high quality product for great value.

TRY Youth Juice. If you want to purchase a single bottle of Youth Juice, contact me by email, or directly at 403-803-7946. A single bottle is $55 and generally lasts about 2-4 weeks.

To order multiple bottles at wholesale price, or if you want more info about Youth Juice,

(Ordering multiple bottles is a terrific way to share with friends and family!)

While many Calgary Nutritionists simply examine the foods you are eating, my nutrition plans do so much more. It’s all about having a healthy lifestyle and that means not only being aware of nutrition, but looking at lifestyle factors such as stress, anxiety, etc…that may be contributing to your emotional and mental well being.

Together we devise a healthy eating and nutrition plan – one that you feel you can achieve. While it does require some commitment on your part, you won’t be alone through the process. With regular evaluations we ensure you’re staying on track and adjust goals as you reach them.

Anna’s Plan includes

Motivation and support

Personalized meal/nutritional information

Resources for nutrition

A plan that works with your lifestyle

Goal Setting
